You can use workbench for free, with 2 actions a day. With Pro you can use all tools without limits and without ads.
Pro costs [€6.99] per month or [€54] per year, including VAT, and renews automatically.
You can always cancel yourself, via Manage subscription. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Your files remain yours and stay on your own device. Always check the result before you use it.
1. Who we are
workbench (workbenchpdf.com) is a service of [COMPANY NAME], [ADDRESS, POSTCODE AND CITY], Chamber of Commerce number [KVK NUMBER], VAT number [VAT NUMBER]. You can reach us at [EMAIL ADDRESS].
In these terms, we or us means workbench. You is anyone who uses workbench.
2. When these terms apply
These terms apply to every use of workbench, with or without an account. By using workbench or creating an account you agree to them. If you are a consumer, you always keep the rights the law gives you. Nothing in these terms limits them.
3. The service
workbench offers online tools to edit, convert, protect and redact PDF files. The tools work in your browser; your files are not sent to us.
We do our best to keep workbench working well and without interruptions, but we cannot promise that this always succeeds. For maintenance or improvements, workbench may sometimes be unavailable for a short time.
Converting and editing can change the appearance or content of a file. Think of fonts being replaced, formatting lost when converting to Word, or pages that become an image when compressing or redacting. Always check the result before you use or send it. Keep your original file too.
AI tools: Chat with PDF, the AI summarizer, Translate PDF, the AI quiz generator and the AI detector send the text of your document to our AI supplier (see the privacy policy). Answers from an AI can contain errors or miss things. They are not legal, financial or medical advice. Check important answers and translations against the original document. The AI detector gives an estimate, not proof; do not use the result as the only basis for a decision about someone, such as an accusation of fraud. For fair use, a maximum number of AI tasks per day also applies with Pro.
Redacting: what you mark black is removed from the new file. You decide what gets blacked out. So check yourself whether all sensitive data is marked; automatic search does not find every spelling either.
We may add, change or stop tools. If an important part of Pro disappears, you may cancel your subscription immediately and get back the part you had already paid in advance.
4. Your account
You need an account for Pro. Use your own, correct email address for it.
Keep your password secret. If you notice someone else is using your account, let us know immediately.
An account is personal. You may not share or resell it.
You can have your account deleted by sending an email to [EMAIL ADDRESS]. Cancel any running subscription first.
5. Free use
Without a subscription you can do 2 actions a day for free. An action is using a tool once with a result, such as a merged or signed PDF. An action that fails does not count. The day runs from 00:00 to 00:00 Dutch time. Use is counted per internet connection and per account. Free users see ads. We may change the free limit; the current limit is always shown on the website.
6. Pro subscription
With Pro you can use all tools without a daily limit and without ads, and process multiple files at once, as long as your subscription runs.
There is a monthly and a yearly subscription, and team subscriptions per user. Prices are on the website and include VAT.
Trial: if you take out Pro for the first time, you get a free trial of [7] days. You provide a payment method for it. If you cancel before the end of the trial, you pay nothing. If you do not, your subscription continues automatically afterwards and the first payment is taken. A few days before the end you get a reminder by email. You get the trial once.
Your subscription starts immediately (or after the trial) and renews automatically for the same period until you cancel.
Teams: with a team subscription you pay for a number of seats. You count as a seat yourself. You can add and remove colleagues by email address; they have Pro as long as they are in your team and the subscription runs. You are responsible for who you add. A seat may not be shared by several people. You add or remove seats via Manage subscription; Stripe charges the difference pro rata.
Unlimited means: for normal, personal or business use by you. Automated or mass use is not included (see article 10).
7. Payment
Payments go through our payment partner Stripe. You pay in advance, per period, with one of the payment methods offered at checkout.
If a payment fails, we try again a few times. If it still fails, your Pro access stops until the payment has been made.
If we want to raise the price, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance. A price increase only applies from your next period. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the new price takes effect.
You can find invoices in the customer portal, via Manage subscription.
8. Cancelling
You cancel via Manage subscription in your account, or by emailing us. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, nothing more is charged.
You can always cancel a monthly subscription at the end of the current month.
You cancel a yearly subscription at the end of the current year. If a yearly subscription has already been renewed automatically, you can as a consumer also cancel it in between, with a notice period of one month. You then get back the part you paid in advance for the period after that month.
We can end your subscription if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. You then get back the part you paid in advance, unless it concerns abuse as described in article 10.
9. Right of withdrawal
As a consumer you normally have 14 days to change your mind after an online purchase. At workbench, Pro starts immediately after payment. At checkout we therefore explicitly ask you to agree that Pro starts right away, and to confirm that you know you lose your right of withdrawal by doing so. If you do not agree, you cannot take out Pro.
10. What is not allowed
Using workbench for anything that breaks the law or the rights of others, such as forging documents or signatures.
Unlocking protected PDFs that you do not have permission for.
Getting around the daily limit or the payment, for example with scripts, by changing how the website works, or by creating accounts in bulk.
Using workbench in an automated way or on a large scale, overloading the website, or trying to break its security.
If you do not stick to this, we may limit your access or end your account.
11. Your files and our work
Your files and their content remain yours. We acquire no rights to them, and we do not get to see them. You are responsible for what you create and send with workbench. The website, the software, the name workbench and the logo are ours. You may not copy or use them without our permission.
12. Liability
We are not liable for damage caused by a result that differs from what you expected, if you did not check that result before using it (see article 3). Nor for damage because workbench was temporarily unavailable.
If we are liable, this is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the damage. If you use workbench for free, it is at most €50.
These limitations do not apply in case of intent or gross negligence on our part, and not insofar as the law does not allow them for consumers.
13. Privacy
How we handle your data is described in our privacy policy.
14. Changes
We can change these terms. We will tell you about important changes at least 30 days in advance by email or with a notice on the website. If you do not agree, you can cancel your subscription before the change takes effect. You then get back the part you paid in advance.
15. Complaints and disputes
If you have a complaint, email it to [EMAIL ADDRESS]. We respond within 14 days.
Dutch law applies to these terms and the use of workbench. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection that the mandatory law of your country gives you.
If we cannot resolve it together, you can bring the dispute before the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you may also choose the court where you live.
